Our Family — Our History
Our domaine results from two families and two know-hows coming together, that of Jules and Suzanne GRIVOT (Maison GRIVOT Frères), wine producers and growers for five generations and the TARDY family who worked in the vineyards for Maison MORIN in Nuits Saint Georges.
It was in 1950 that René TARDY shaped his Domaine, managing several plots in Nuits Saint Georges. He also shared his knowledge and savoir-faire by working for Domaine Maurice CHEVILLON in NUITS SAINT GEORGES from 1952 to 1959.
It was at this time that Maison F. CHAUVENET noticed this promising and talented man of the earth and entrusted him with running some of their vineyards. He worked there until 1962, at which date the needs of his own domaine demanded his full attention.
In 1978, René TARDY reorganised his Domaine, taking his two sons Jacques and Joël into the fold. The Domaine took on its current name ‘Domaine René TARDY et Fils’ and came to cover almost 7 hectares.
